Property Tax Due Dates
The first billing for your taxes will be mailed at the beginning of March and is payable in two installments. The first installment is due near the end of March and the second installment is due near the end of June. Please check your tax billing notice for due dates.
The final billing for your yearly taxes will be mailed at the beginning of September and will be payable in two installments. The due dates for the final two payments will be clearly noted on your tax billing notice. If you should have any questions of concerns about your tax notices, please contact our office.
Methods of Payment

The Municipality of Central Huron
Cheques are payable to the Municipality of Central Huron. Be certain to record your roll number on the back of your cheque. Keep the top portion of the bill for your records – no other receipt will be issued.
Paying in Person:
The Revenue Counter is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding statutory holidays). Please bring your entire tax bill with you.
After hours payment Deposit Box is located at 23 Albert St., Clinton at the Front entrance.

Internet Payments and payments at most Financial Institutions.
Our Treasury Department is happy to announce that we now have direct debit for your bill paying convenience.
Penalty and Interest Charges
To avoid penalty/interest, your property tax payment must be received by our office on or before the due date.
Penalty and interest charges for late payment are set by Municipal By-Law in accordance with the Municipal Act. Taxes in arrears after December 31 will be subject to monthly interest charges until paid. Penalties and interest must be paid in full before there can be a reduction in the amount of taxes outstanding.
Staff has no authority to waive penalties or interest for taxes.
Change of Ownership or Address Information
If the property has changed ownership, please forward the tax bill to your lawyer to pass along to the new owner or return it to the Tax Office. To prevent misdirected tax bills, please advise the Tax Office in writing of mailing address changes.
Failure to redirect tax bills could still result in penalty and interest charges applied to accounts.
Registered charities may be eligible for a property tax reduction – click here for the form that must be completed during the taxation year that the rebate applies to.
Commercial and Industrial properties that are vacant may be eligible for this rebate. The deadline for submitting applications is February 28 of the year following the taxation year to which the application relates. Download form here.
Request for Reconsideration
If you wish to request any changes to property class, assessed value, etc. this form should be completed and returned to the Municipal Property Assessment Office. The Deadline for completing this form is March 31 of the taxation year to which the application applies. Download form here.
The current value assessment (CVA) of your property is determined by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC).

- a building may be destroyed by fire
- demolition or otherwise
- mobile home unit removed
- sickness or extreme poverty
- gross or manifest clerical/factual error
- building damaged and substantially unusable
- ceases to be liable at tax rate it was taxed
- became exempt reno's preventing normal use (min. 3 months)
