Roads / Public Works : Ministry of Transportation | Maintenance Services | Questions & Answers
The Roads and Public Works Department is responsible for the transportation network, public parking, and maintenance of Municipal-owned roads, bridges, sidewalks and storm sewers. Each year the Municipality’s infrastructure deteriorates with age and grows with the addition of new roads, sidewalks, traffic signs and a demand for more parking, etc. Our Public Works and Roads Department manages this aging and growing system within defined financial resources, while maintaining accepted levels of service and public safety. Central Huron’s Roads Department is responsible for the maintenance of approximately 343 km. of roads. We have three public works/roads depots. One is located in Clinton and this one looks after Ward Three. We have on another works depot on the Parr Line south of Holmesville and this depot is responsible for Ward One. On the Londesborough Road, County Road 15 is our final depot that is responsible for all of the road maintenance in Ward Two. Road maintenance includes plowing, sanding, grading, ditching, patching pot holes, re-surfacing, installing and maintaining sidewalks, culvert installations, roadside maintenance such as grass cutting, brushing (cleaning up of the brush on the roadside), tree trimming and the pick up and disposal of “road kill”.
