Osborne Street Sewage Pump House & Surrounding Collection Area
Sanitary
• December 27th and 28th, 2008 – surcharging of the sanitary sewer system occurred around Osborne Street Sewage Pumping Station with 18C temperature change and snow melt. • Ratepayers had phoned in about backups in basements and attended the January 12th, 2009 Council meeting. • Tom Sinclair, Roads Manager and Steve Gibbings, Utilities Manager attended a meeting with engineers at B.M. Ross & Association (Goderich) office in Goderich on January 20th, 2009 and reviewed data that was collected and what is needed. Again large snow accumulation in January and February. • Continued checks on sewer manhole levels under low and higher flow conditions from January 21st going forward and waiting on flows to recede for video inspection to look for storm water infiltration coming into the sanitary collection sewer. Majority of foundation drains on homes are tied into sanitary lines. • Experienced high temperatures and rainfall on February 11th and 12th, 2009 which resulted in surcharging of the area around the Osborne Street Sewage Pumping Station. • Had representatives from B.M. Ross & Associates (Goderich) record and observe high flow conditions on February 12th, 2009. • Took pump tests at Osborne Street Pumping Station and are investigating ways to video the sanitary forcemain that runs from station to attachment on gravity flow sanitary pipe on King Street. • Will be doing video inspections of collection system once flows are less in March. • Experienced high flow conditions again evening of Sunday, March 8th, 2009. No calls from any ratepayers.
